throwback Tuesday

I think for today, I'll grab my old notebooks and give you a look back...

They were just turning 6 months old. Cereal and fruit/veggies was on the menu as well as bottles every 5 hours. Carl was drinking about 9 ounces per bottles, but Gretchen only about 6-7. One note says we just switched Carl to a size 3 diaper. Grammie came to visit for their 6 month birthday (she came about once a month) arriving at noon on Saturday 5/20 and staying until 4:01 on Sunday 5/21. She got to Voorheesville at 7:01! Daddy had his sleep test on 5/22. They were not quite doing any solo rolling yet and both would stick their tongues out to imitate you!

Gretchen was saying "yum yum yum" in a deep growly voice whenever she saw Cookie Monster. My Mother's Day card was a Cookie Monster one and we bought the Sesame Street shirts they have on in this picture (pink Elmo, blue Cookie) just to hear her say it more!

Carl liked to run down the hallway and back to say "boo" to you - only he wouldnt' say "boo" - he would say "BEE!"

The names "Daddio" and "Mommio" have replaced Daddy and Mommy for now. They also started this game where they say "Hi Sappy" and then "No sappy!" back and forth. We have no idea what it was about, but they thought it was flat out hilarious! Carl began telling me when he had pooped in his diaper. This was the time frame when Gretcehn discovered she likes to eat pumpkin muffin batter. Carl was beginning his speech therapy with Lindsey.

Here's a direct quote about eating from 5/20/08, the day they turned 2 and a half:
'They have been very fusst eaters and haven't wanted scrambled eggs in months. Apparently, that has changed! Carl especially loved them for breakfast. At first, he called them "cheese", so he tricked himself into eating them. We recently discovered chicken nuggets, so maybe they are turning the corner on the fussy food issue. I hope so!'

Also, on that night, we took them to the library. Carl was amazed they had his favorite book The Bunnies Are Not In Their Beds. Lew read it and Carl stood right in front of the book. When I took it to check it out, Carl cried loudly.
