LEGO MANIA!
They have been playing Legos happily (and quietly) for a really big chunk of the long weekend. We did throw in some other fun things... shoe shopping, the pajama party at the Children's Museum, bowling league (Gretchen hit a 189!), mini golf, a trip to the aquarium along with 5997 other people for free day there (yes, the lady told me that they had 6000 people go through so far... that was about 4 pm and they didn't close until 5), playing with Carl's new race track and Hot Wheels cars, meeting Daddy for lunch to support our surf camp, and even doing puzzles. But, mostly, Legos Legos and more Legos!!!
Here you go! pictures pictures and more pictures
Let the mania begin.....
Gretchen is feeling left out of the glasses club, so she pulled out her pair from Grampie. Now, see how well the non-glare lenses on Carl's are working. Good proof.
Gretchen's new boots. She loves them!
One new Lego kit made a pizza parlor, a bike shop and a big yellow bus. We made that together Friday night. Here, the rescue workers are enjoying a pie up in the dining room.
Carl is setting up the........ food cart. Who wouldn't line up for turkey legs? OK, we tried one in Disney last November because we know people go nuts for them and we weren't impressed.
Always wear your bike helmet.
This is the set Santa brought to Gretchen, Olivia's House. Carl is uber jealous.
Even Angus tried to get in on the mania!
Friday evening, we headed to the children's museum for their pajama party. They each brought their new stuffed owls along to dance the night away with a local musician we see often at the children's museum (he was filming a music video - we may be famous any day now), make a dream catcher, snack on cookies and milk and listen to bedtime stories. They were so psyched to discover the bedtime story was about baby owls!! Perfect!!
Saturday, more Legos!!!
Now Carl has completed his Fire Department.
On Sunday, we headed over to play some mini golf in between hockey games and football play-off games.
Here are Carl's new sneakers... size 4W!
Azaleas in bloom down here!
Family photo!
The girls each got a hole in one on the 11th hole!!
Now to be outdone, the boys felt it necessary to each get a hole in one on the 12th hole!!
Monday was free admission at the aquarium and we actually remembered to go! It was crowded, but not crazy inside. The outside playground was insanely wild, though. That's where I was speaking to the worker and she said they had 6000 people come through. We are considering getting a family membership again.
Gretchen touching a star fish. Carl by a whale skull.
We were there for feeding time. They dump the pieces of squid and fish in the top and the fish go a little crazy. That shark is not eating here, though, He gets fed off a pole in the back of the tank. They actually got rid of all the big sharks because we now have a spotted ray in the tank. That is a treat as there are only about 7 spotted rays in captivity. Sharks enjoy snacking on spotted rays, so in his honor, they moved the big sharks to another aquarium to avoid that!
Gretchen and the rays.
Here is Carl touching a baby shark. He said it "felt soft". I was just amazed that 1.) he didn't get soaked and 2.) I was able to get a picture of just him as there were a ton of people around the tank right then.
I have to pull out old pictures. You will see this frog shot again soon as I grab some old aquarium pictures. This frog statue has always been their favorite part of the aquarium! Actually, now they have added a nice playground - so that is the favorite part.
Back at home, Carl got to try out his new Hot Wheels race track from Aunt Kris! Yes, the tree did not make it down yet. As of typing this, it is totally undecorated. That doesn't mean it will come down tonight, though. Cub Scout meeting tonight. Maybe it will be down before February! maybe not.
They did puzzles this morning. Carl is much better at puzzles than Gretchen is. Shhh... don't tell her I said that. But, it is true. After this, we changed and headed out to Ruby Tuesdays for a lunch fundraiser for our surf school. We all had a great
So, I may come back to update with one final Lego picture later tonight. Lego Mania must end. School resumes tomorrow!
