the posts are piling up

in my head.

I have a few stories to get to that will keep you updated, but we're just too busy having summer fun to get to them.  So, the things I have to share keep me from having time to share.

Today we rode bikes in the court across the street in the morning.  There is the sweetest calico cat named Chrissy that lives on that court and she loves us!  Who doesn't love us, right?  But, Chrissy rubs up against our legs and she rolls onto her back so Gretchen can tickle her belly!  Her owners told us one time that Chrissy could see us outside and she was frantic to get them to open the door so she could come out and play.  Today, she was giving us kisses and just lovin' all the attention!  They spent 50% of the time on their bikes, and 50% playing with the sweet kitty!

Then, after lunch I surprised them with a question, "Would you like to go to the pool?  Now?"  They open at 1:00 and we were there waiting.  We stayed until 2:45 and then came home and they took a 2.5 hour nap!  Ahh!!  Gretchen wants to learn to do a back flip in the water like a little girl was doing on Saturday.  This little girl's name was Lavania.  She told us we could call her "Lasagna" so Carl did.  The 3 kids played for a long time together.  Their favorite activity was all holding hands and running to jump in together.  You know, I really want a small waterproof camera.  The triple faces of joy as they flew through the air and splashed into the water would have made a glorious photo memory of the day.

Anyway, today we spent a good deal of time in the shallowest part of the pool with Gretchen trying to practice handstands in the water and attempting back flips all while holding her nose.  Then, Carl shows up, jumps and arches his back like twice and discovers he can do a back flip just like Lasagna did!  Luckily, Gretchen did not catch on to how easily he picked it up.  Shhh.  Actually, if you could have seen the 50% bike riding portion of the morning, it would all even out.

Since no entry is complete without some photos...  look what happened yesterday...... Sunday 7-17-11
He pulled this one out himself... after a full day of asking me to do it for him.  (No way.)  The lower one fell out a while ago and the other front one is really loose!  The 2 middle bottom ones are already permanent teeth so this is Lost Tooth #4 for him!!  The top one he pulled yesterday has a new tooth already poking through.  Guess we are close to those big ol' goofy front teeth.  How sad.  He's only 5!

Look at this shot from earlier in the day... check out how he sits...
